Creative Media Institute of Southwest Florida in cooperation with WRXY Television is conducting a summer media day camp for high school and mature middle school students interested in learning television production.
The week-long camp is scheduled for Monday through Friday, June 20 through 24 from 9:00 am through 4:00 pm. Students will learn the basics of producing a television program including writing, pre-production, lighting, camera operation, sound recording and mixing, directing, hosting, and studio protocol. By the end of the week, the participants will have produced a half-hour television program which will be broadcast to all of southwest Florida on WRXY-TV, and available world-wide through internet streaming.
The proposed topic for the program will be uses and abuses of the social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The television program will teach the basics and safe use of these social media services to their peers, their parents, and their grandparents.
Instruction will be provided by the staff of WRXY-TV as well as invited personalities from the local media.
The cost of the week long camp is $250 per student and will include lunch. The camp will be held at the studio of WRXY-TV, at 40000 Horseshoe Road, Punta Gorda from 9:30 am through 3:30 pm each day.
